The Itinerary
1
Saturday, August 23
Arrive to New York. You'll have time to settle in and take in the sights of the Big Apple. Get settled into the hotel and get ready for a week of memories.
2
Sunday, August 24
Adventure to the southern tip of Manhattan and ferry over to the symbol of liberty -- the Statute of Liberty. Learn how it wasn't always green and what it symbolizes to those around the world. Head over to Ellis Island and learn about the history of immigration through Ellis Island. Afterwards, we will take a stroll through Wall Street and meet the legendary bull. We'll browse around Chinatown and have dinner in Little Italy.
3
Monday August 25
We are headed to the Open! First round action means getting up close to world class players and seeing how fast they are really hitting that tennis ball.
4
Tuesday, August 26
Free day to explore the city or rest up. Perhaps go see Ground Zero or head to the Brooklyn Children's museum? This is a great night to catch a Broadway show.
5
Wednesday, August 27
We will head to the Central Park Tennis Center in the morning to hit some balls ourselves (now that we've seen the pros do it). We will play some games and have fun. Central Park picnic for lunch. In the afternoon, walk through the halls of the world class Metropolitan Museum of Art. Afterwards, feel free to explore some of the many nooks and crannies of Central Park. You might even find a castle or a mad hatter!
6
Thursday, August 28
Head to the bright lights of Manhattan and Times Square. Check out the many shops like M&M World, Hershey's Chocolate World, and the Disney Store. Walk up the iconic Red Steps and secure discounted theatre tickets. Meander around and see Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and of course pop into the FAO Schwarz toy store!
7
Friday, August 29
Back to the Open to see 3rd round action! We will have tickets in Arthur Ashe -- by far the largest tennis stadium in the world! If we are lucky, we might catch one of the big 3 or Serena in action. Alternately, if you want to catch a night session at Ashe, this would be the night to do it.
8
Saturday, August 30
We will have a late start (for those of you who stayed up all night at the night session) and start the day off with some lunch at Chelsea Market. We will walk along the Highline and see art and catch great views from up high on the elevated walk. Feel free to branch off on your own and see the Whitney Museum of American Art. Head to the Empire State Building and cap our week off like we are in Sleepless in Seattle.
